First off, yes
yes, NMPO is way off, it was 4 am and I was in a hurry, we didn't
notice until halfway through the party, oops :).
This is our Stranger Things cake for our daughter's 13th birthday. We
combined elements of seasons 1 and 2 but had to downsize the scale due
to time this year. We purchased the children to fight the demodogs and
be chased by the demogorgon. Sorry no Hopper, Joyce, Nancy, Steve, Max
or Jonathan. Technically neither scene from the show actually happens
this way but whatever. The cake is set in the junk yard and the upside
down from the show. Will is being chased by the demogorgon and a
tentacle from shadow monster. Eleven, Mike, Dustin and Lucas are
fighting demodogs in the junk yard. Dustin is trying to feed d'Artagnan
a 3 Musketeers bar. The cake itself is a very simple flat design
(exactly 6 box cakes with no waste left over) covered with buttercream
and yucky fondant. We purchased the kids and demogorgon and my wife
made the tentacle (felt, spring and thermoplastic) and demodogs (clay).
We also purchased the cars and bus then modified to look like the show.
The trees in the upside down are train model trees and were hot glued
and painted. The upside down has nothing edible. There are 5 servos and
4 timing motors moving the characters. My daughter did the crayon
drawings of the tunnels for the wall. We had black light on the upside
down half of the party, it gave it a nice pop. The shadow monster was
printed in sections and glued to the base. All in all, we really liked
the cake, but maybe next time we can go bigger with more stuff!
