Hannah's Nightmare Before Christmas Cake (8th 2012)

Ah ha, Hannah's birthday is after Halloween and before Christmas so this is perfect.  She was having a hard time deciding so I steered her toward the NBC, everyone likes an stop motion musical right?  I do.  Great theme but as it always is, very difficult to get all of the parts from the movie in there.  Well, all of the parts I like anyway.  I was able to get a whole lot in there.

First, being able to buy the characters instead of making them all was perfect.  We could have never made them all.  And now they are nicely perched on my toy shelf :).  Since it was still prior to Halloween I was able to pick up a dancing skeleton to for the Oogie Boogie character.  I really wanted him to dance and the toy just wasn't going to hack it.  I stripped the skeleton down and passed it on to Lili to have her transform it into Oogie.  She pulled it off wonderfully on the first try, we thought it would take multiple versions but he looks great.  The dance is even good!

We got Lock, Shock and Barrel up on top of the hill lowering Santa (in the Halloween sack) into Oogie's lair.  Dr Finklestein is attempting to go up to get Sally but can't.  Sally is dancing away dreaming of Jack.  Jack is as usual singing.  The mayor is barking out orders over in the corner.  Zero the ghost dog is hanging out by Jack.  The vampires are wandering around next to the cemetary.  The monster is dancing away behind Sally. And ghosts are flying behind the hill.

As it always goes, we always run out of time.  I was hoping to get more details on the cake, the areas between the character is terribly bare, it would have been nice to fill that in with movie type props.  The center fountain was made by Lili and contains a tube for fog.  I hooked up too small of a flex tube underneath so the dry ice exhaust started condensing and backing up in the tube.  It looked great for only 10 minutes or so.  So I had to quickly change the fountain to greeny looking slosh.  Both the fog and greeny are in the movie so both are good but I sure would have preferred the fog, looked neato.
