Hannah's Monkey Cake 7th (2011)
Ha, now that's a fun cake right there. Monkey cake! You can't
beat monkeys and cake. Hannah is known as the monkey of the house anyway
so this was perfect for her. I think we've met her demands this year;
monkeys swinging, crocodile trying to eat a monkey, elephant shooting water,
hippo, parrot, snakes - yep, got them all on there in some fashion. She was
happy and the kids really seemed to enjoy it. The cake was even tasty, yum. 11
cake mixes and about 15 pounds of fondant. The temple is really the only cake,
the rest if covered in fondant. The cake is 7 layers high, the base is 3.5" of
foam since we knew we'd never eat that much cake, would have been 9 layers
otherwise. 9 motors, 2 servos (run by a Prop1 board) and a water pump this time.
I had other motors set up and ready for more monkey action, I had the pully all
set up for a vine going up and down (vertical) but I couldn't get Lili to make
any more monkeys :(, she was pooped by the end of the week.
