Sydney's Ghibli Cake (21st 2024)
This was our first cake in a very long time (move overseas, COVID overseas, move home, house fire, rebuild, redoing previous years house projects). Sydney wanted a Ghibli cake for her 21st birthday. Small cake but we tried to fit her favorite movies in there. We squeezed in Chihiro, No Face and the Soot Sprites from Spirited Away, Mei and Totoro from My Neighbor Totoro, Howl and Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service and Ponyo from Ponyo. It is all very simple compared to previous cakes but it was very cute. We all love the Ghibli movies so it was special to make a cake to represent them. Some figures were purchases and some made. It was chocolote cake covered in chocolate frosting overlayed with fondant. We all worked on this cake, even the birthday girl. It was a fun cake to make.
